Last month our team attended the 2017 NAHB International Builders’ Show, and we noticed that technology advancements and integration was the overarching theme for this year’s conference. The On Point Custom Homes team prides itself in incorporating the latest and greatest trends and innovations into our modern homes, and we are excited that today’s buyers are craving more technology integration.

While most modern homes include opportunities to connect the Amazon Alexa or Echo Dot with the lights, fans and window blinds, or program the shower to be set to the perfect water temperature, there are a multitude of ways to connect technology throughout your home. From appliances that have their own apps to keyless locks and wireless home security, you can have a 100% smart house, if you desire.

At the conference, our team was fascinated by the future house prototype, called FutureHAUS, that the Virginia Tech Center for Design Research has created. We were able to get a sneak peek at this house through digital displays of their work. The FutureHAUS is exactly what it sounds like, a future house. The students at Virginia Tech designed the smart home to feature counter tops that become LED screens, LED displays on walls and ceilings, and so many more revolutionary features.

The advancements included in the FutureHAUS demonstrate ways that smart technologies can help homeowners with daily tasks throughout the home. The sky is the limit when it comes to technology in homes, and we are thrilled to be at the forefront of this trend. Do you have a technology wish list? Share it with us in the comments below!
