On Point Custom Homes CEO and Founder John Leggett was recently featured in two local Houston publications where he shared his insight on the design and homebuilding trends for 2017, focusing on modern and contemporary home design for remodeled and newly built properties.
After attending the 2017 NAHB International Builders’ Show, John shared with Houston Builder Magazine what he believes are the most popular trends in homes this year. One of the major changes to homes is the increased need for technology, especially with the millennial generation. John notes in his article, “More millennials are moving into the city instead of into suburban homes, and as this generation continues to dominate the buying pool, they expect more technology options than previous buyers.”
John also provided the Houston Chronicle’s GHBA Remodelers Council with his insight on the top remodeler trends for 2017, such as using quartz instead of granite in bathrooms and kitchens. In addition to building custom homes, our team also remodels several homes each year, and one of our favorite additions is mixing different types of metals or materials for bathroom and kitchen finishes. Fixtures and faucets do not need to match. When remodeling a bathroom or kitchen, John suggests blending black matte appliances with brass knobs, or graphite appliances with gold plumbing fixtures. You can even mix and match the color of your upper and lower cabinets, A.K.A. tuxedo cabinets, to elevate the interior design of the room.
At On Point, we keep every step of the home design and build process under one roof, allowing our team to create incredible modern, traditional and contemporary homes for our clients. If you would like more information about working with us, please contact us at 713.600.2422.
