At On Point Custom Homes, we understand that choosing a home is about more than just four walls. It’s about finding a community where your family can grow and flourish.
Spring Valley: A Community Rooted in History and Avoiding Houston.
Spring Valley, incorporated in 1955, emerged from the larger Spring Branch community, a settlement dating back to 1848. The area was originally inhabited by nomadic Indian tribes, evidenced by burial mounds. By 1844, land grants were given to individuals for their service to the state. German farmers and dairy owners shaped the early community, clearing forests for farms and constructing St. Peter’s United Church with lumber from local sawmills.
Spring Valley’s incorporation was driven by a desire to avoid annexation by Houston and to establish zoning control. The community’s founders, including names like Bradshaw, Greve, Raycraft, and Sweitzer, led the incorporation effort. The first mayor, William F. Cannon, was sworn in along with the first council in 1955.
The population of Spring Valley has grown over the years, reaching over 3,800 residents by 1987. The community features predominantly ranch-style homes, reflecting the architectural trends of the 1950s and 60s.
